It's alive!

Super excited Cora's motorcycle is fixed! It took three kicks and it fired right up and ran like a charm.  Its got quite a bit of horse power too.  Cora was so excited to hear her motorcycle start and loved slipping on her helmet and riding it up the hill. Jake relived that its done.  We will probably go riding this week sometime.  I am looking forward to this summer now more then ever.
Cora's bike is running and ready to race!

Praying that Jake gets the part time position that CHFD is opening.  We only need that until August, then I'll be babysitting a baby full time.  Speaking of baby sitting... my good friend Tammy, the mommy to be of said baby, lost her mom on Thursday. :-(    Prayers also for her and her family.

On a happier note my Grandma's birthday is on the 29th, so we went out to Red Lobster to celebrate.  She is a wise and wonderful 83yrs. old.  She was super embarrassed when I had them sing to her.  I love her sweetness so much.
A special birthday bib for granny.

Catch up!

Jeesh, I'm horrible at keeping up with my blog posts!  So since my last post the Broncos went to the playoffs against the Patriots.  Ummm, the Broncos WON!!!!! They are going to the Super Bowl against the Seahawks. Go Broncos!!!

Also new, Cora and her daddy started work on Cora's motorcycle.  Cora took the motor all the way apart and today they began putting it all back together.

Ella got her first school project assignment.  They had to pick a major weather event like tornados, floods, blizzards, etc.  Ella choose to do floods.  She likes very neat, straight lines.  Her handwriting is very near mine!  She had a great time working on this.  One really cool thing is one of the pictures we found is actually a call her daddy was on!

We had a great visit on Monday, MLK day, from Uncle Bryce, Aunt Amy, and Logan. Pictures later.

Now our sad news... Our sweet hamster Smokey Bear went to heaven sometime early this morning.  Ella went to pick him up this morning and found him cold and not breathing.  We knew his time was short because they don't live but 3 years.  I just wish my sweet baby didn't find him.  We placed him in a shoes box filled with pillow bating and wrapped him in a blanket.  He is buried in the back yard and this summer we plan to put a flower garden over him. I am going to let the girls make a garden stone for a memory too.  Smokey was the sweetest hamster I've ever owned.  He was such a snuggler.  We will really, really miss him. :-(

Well that's pretty much everything for now.  Lets see if I can get into a routine and update my posts every other day or so.

Uncle Bill

Yesterday we went and visited Jake's uncle.  Bill has MS and his physical health is deteriorating but he doesn't let that stop him from doing what he loves.  Bill loves tinkering around in his shop, which is most men's dream shop.  He has most every tool.  Multiples of many.  He has more nuts, bolts, washers, screws, nails, brads, and any other kind of fastener than many home repair stores.  Every thing in the shop is super organized and labeled.  While we have been there often and a lot I've never stopped to capture just how remarkable his space is.  I really do want to stop and "smell the roses" more this year.  To really ENJOY what's around us.  I enjoy seeing Bill in his element.

Screw drivers, ratchet wrenches, and sockets Oh My!

Hammers and mallets all sizes!

Kate.

Today one year ago I got that news that our friends Kate and Ash were in an accident.  I never thought in a million years that it was bad as it was.  Ash was in ICU, in and out of consciousness, and Kate had been killed.  I knew where they were coming from because I had texted Kate the night before inviting them over.  Kate said they were going to Boulder to hang out.  Kate posted a picture, her last post, of an empty bottle of wine and two glasses. Yep, that bad.  The accident happened close to home.  We really lost two friends that fateful night.  Sweet Kate sailed away to heaven and Ash will never be the same.  One bad choice with so many consequences.  The hardest part was telling my girls.  They took it hard, as we all did.  We miss Kate every day.  She was so young and was an amazing fun person, teacher, friend, and neighbor.

In just one month from today Ash will be sentenced.  She is charged with vehicular manslaughter and DUI.  She faces up to 5 years in prison and can never be a firefighter anywhere again.  Again, she is so young and her life will never be the same.  We miss her too.  Its hard sometimes not to be bitter, because she knew better than most, what the consequences were.  But, my sweet Cora said one day: "Anger and bitterness won't help anything, so I just have to let it go and live a better way."  So if you get one thing from this long post I hope you get this.  DON'T never ever DRINK, any amount of alcohol, and DRIVE!
We will always live #wwkd style.  We love you Kate!

Racing and Football Oh My!

Big weekend, with the second round of Supercross and today Broncos play their first playoff game against the Chargers.

My new Broncos shirt!

We also had Kayla, Special K, over Friday night.  We went to McDonald's and met some friends.  The kids played for three and half hours.  Yah, needless to say they all slept like babies.  K stayed all day and that is always fun.  Jake was home so he and I rested the day away.
At 7p.m. Steven, Alex, and Fro came over to watch the Supercross race.  It was a great race!  No major crashes.  There is great competition this year!
And now its Broncos Day!  Jake is at work so he'll have to watch the game from 1's.  He will miss yummy wings, which is traditional Broncos food.  The girls are so tired of eating them but I love them so much! GO BRONCOS!!!!!

Swim

Yep, two posts one day!  That's how I roll! The girls are back at school and doing well.  Jake was home yesterday and it was fun just hanging out.  He worked today and the house was so quit with nobody here (mostly a good thing, however I missed my snugglers).  Cora had swim tonight and on our way there we were talking about our friend Kate that was killed in a tragic accident a year ago this Monday. Anyways, all of a sudden there was this tiny rainbow poking out of the clouds and a shiny spot close to it.  You can think I'm crazy but I am sure that was sweet Kate.

The rainbow and little blue little spot.
